Are Goldendoodles Really Hypoallergenic?
Goldendoodles are a mix between a golden retriever and a poodle. They are often touted as being hypoallergenic, but is this really true? To find out, we need to look at what causes allergies and whether or not Goldendoodles are less likely to cause them. Allergens are proteins that our bodies react to, and they can be found in many different places. When we come into contact with allergens, our bodies will produce antibodies to fight the invader. These antibodies are what cause allergies. Once the body has produced enough antibodies, it will stop producing them. If you want to learn more about this process, check out our article on How Your Body Makes Allergies. Since Goldendoodles are not hypoallergenic, they will produce the same amount of allergen as any other dog. However, if you have a high level of sensitivity to allergens, then you may want to steer clear of these little guys. The best thing is to explore all of your options before deciding on a dog.
